Locarno Paravento Theatre
Founded in 1982, the Theatre Paravento is a repertory company based in Italian-speaking Switzerland. The company approaches theatre through a great variety of techniques and traditions: commedia dell'arte, pantomime, improvisation, the creation of original works, and the production of plays by famous authors. Aiming for the symbiosis of word, gesture and movement, of musical as well as visual composition, Paravento creates its own reality, somewhere between comedy and tragedy. The thematic material, chosen for its depth of thought and relevance to the world of today, is brought to life with the gusto and originality of approach one would expect from a young troop of dynamic performers. In its 24 years of life the Company has toured much of the world, including Austria, Lichtenstein, Canada, Chile, Brazil, Croatia, Cuba, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Unit Emirates of Arabia, Lebanon, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Peru, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Syria, Switzerland and Turkey.
