I Rondoni

Text and direction by Miguel Angel Cienfuegos

The story of a family of Italian immigrants in the United States at the beginning of the 20th century and their efforts to succeed, at first in the world of the cinema and then on the New York vaudeville stage.

120 minutes, with intermission

A hundred years after cinema was born and fifty years from the end of World War II the Compagnia Teatro Paravento creates a show that tells the story of an italian family of immigrants that go to the United States in hope of making a career in the film industry.

The play brings us back to North America between 1915 and 1940, to those hard times of economical depression, prohibition and racism, but also to the magic moments of silent films and vaudeville.

Poor shows performed by humble artists, like the Rondonis, for an equally humble audience: workmen, shopkeepers, immigrants and local kids who went to the cinema or to the theatre to forget a hard day's work, and to dream.
